[ARCHIVED] SLIB Grant Awarded to City

The City is pleased to announce that yesterday the State Land Investment Board (SLIB) awarded a $600,000 grant to the City to assist with construction of the proposed Police and Court Facility on Flaming Gorge Way. Together with the City’s $1 million consensus grant monies agreed to last month with the City of Rock Springs and Sweetwater County, the City now has the funding commitments in place to begin construction this summer.

Mayor Castillon, Police Chief Chris Steffen, and City Administrator Marty Black presented the City’s request to the Governor and his Cabinet members, sitting as members of the State Land Investment Board, at their January 17th meeting in Cheyenne. The SLIB members remarked that the City presented a “compelling case” for funding assistance on behalf of the community.

Construction design plans are already complete enabling the City to begin the permitting and bid process for construction services.

“This is an exciting success in our efforts to bring state funding assistance to Green River and puts us on track to complete this high priority community project,” Mayor Castillon said
