Matthew Schafer, age 23, of Green River was arrested on 7/7/12 on Elm Street by Sheriff Deputies on a warrant out of Circuit Court for Possession of a Deadly Weapon with Unlawful Intent. The warrant was issued from an incident in Green River investigated by GRPD officers in which Schafer brandished a gun to another citizen after a near traffic crash. The citizen reported the incident to police and an investigation ensued and the warrant was issued. Schafer is out on bond from a similar incident that occurred in Weld County Colorado. Schafer was unarmed at the time of his arrest. Detectives secured a search warrant for Schafer’s home and three handguns and a rifle were located and confiscated. Schafer’s bond was posted at $100,000 cash or surety.
Christopher T Jones, age 20, of Kansas City Missouri, was arrested on 7/10/12 at 01:01 am on Uinta Drive for Public Intoxication. Officers were dispatched to a disturbance on the river bridge regarding two intoxicated subject who were fighting. Officers contacted Jones and another subject and Jones was uncooperative when officers began questioning him. Jones was taken into custody and transported to jail where a breath test showed his blood alcohol concentration was over four times the legal limit for presumed intoxication.
A 15year old female was arrested for shoplifting on 7/9/12 at 06:12 pm on Bridger Drive; she was later released to her parent.
A Threats report was taken on N 3rd W when the victim advised he was threatened by his landlord.
Officers assisted ambulance personnel on Riverview Drive with a 37 year old male who had taken a quantity of prescription medication trying to overdose.
A Malicious Mischief report was taken on Uinta Drive when a city employee found a chain cut at the entrance to the landfill.
Officers were involved in a high speed chase involving a red four wheeler and a male driver
wearing a silver full face helmet. The chase started on W Flaming Gorge Way and continued up
Wild Horse Canyon. County deputies became involved and the driver and vehicle escaped
apprehension on top of White Mountain. Anyone with information please contact the GRPD or
the Sweetwater County Sheriff’s Office.
Officers investigated a report of a Domestic Battery on N 5th W when a mother and son were
involved in an argument that became physical. A report was forwarded to the County
Attorney’s office for review.
Suspicious Circumstances were reported on Elm Street when a concerned citizen reported two
adult males in older red Suburban watching children through binoculars about a week and a
half ago.
Officers assisted ambulance personnel on Railroad Street with a 70 year old male suffering
from COPD and having trouble breathing.
Animal Control Officers responded to a cat at large complaint on Andrews Street; one cat was
impounded.
