Assistant Green River Fire Chief Dea Cargile was recognized for his role in rescuing an unresponsive person floating in Green River at the June 3 Green River City Council meeting.
"While assistant Cargile was donning his PFD and swift water rescue equipment, other personnel were positioning themselves to assist the victim," Fire Chief Mike Kennedy said.
Kennedy said that the victim was pulled to the north bank by Cargile less than three minutes after he entered the water and that Castle Rock Ambulance Service then provided medical treatment.
"There's no way this could have been done with just myself or any one person. All agencies and departments worked together. I just happened to be probably in the right place at the right time," Cargile said.
