[ARCHIVED] City to host upcoming blood drive at City Hall

City employees like Ginni Lipka donates blood. As the Executive Assistant to the Mayor & City Council, Lipka also coordinates blood drives for the City of Green River. She does these two things to save others because she knows the importance of blood donation and how it can make a difference in the lives of others.

"We are in need of volunteers for the next blood drive," says Lipka.

On Thursday, June 12, the City will host a blood drive by partnering with the United Blood Services Bloodmobile in Green River. United Blood Services is a non-profit community blood center, providing blood and blood products for local area hospitals throughout the United States.

"They are hoping for 20 blood donors and so far we have four people signed up," says Lipka.

According to America's Blood Center, a North American network of non-profit blood centers, blood donation has always been perceived as valuable volunteer activity. They also say that blood donors who give an hour of their time experience an indescribable feeling of joy from knowing they have made a real difference in the life of someone in need

The Bloodsmobile will be in the Green River City Hall parking lot from 8:30 am to 12:00 pm on June 12 for those that would like to donate a little time and blood that would make a difference in the lives of others.
