The next phase of the Second South Street project begins on Monday, August 22nd with the closure of the Union Pacific Underpass. While the underpass is closed, all traffic will be routed through downtown on East Flaming Gorge Way. This section of roadway is scheduled to reopen for traffic no later than mid-October.
All of Second South Street will be open to traffic for the River Festival until the closure of the underpass on August 22nd.
This phase of the project includes replacement of the driving surface, curb, gutter, and sidewalk for 950 feet from S 1st W St. to the UP driveway just east of the overpass. A 12" water line will also replace the aging 12" Asbestos Cement pipe.
Once the road is open in October, construction will continue as weather allows. We anticipate installing the street lights in January and planting trees in early spring.
This project, slated for completion in Spring of 2017, is fully funded by the sixth cent sales tax.
