Chris Steffen, Chief of Police reports:
The charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
The following events were reported between 6:00 a.m. on May 15, 2014 and 6:00 a.m. on May 16, 2014:
Officers responded to an address on Pennsylvania Boulevard in reference to a report of a scam. The reporting party said they received a phone call from a person identifying themselves as an employee from an insurance company. The employee wanted the reporting party to cash a check and also requested their personal information. The reporting party recognized this to be a scam and did not give out any personal information over the phone.
Officers responded to an address on Jefferson Street in reference to questions regarding a civil matter.
Officers completed a funeral escort.
Officers responded to an address on Minnesota Court in reference to a report of possible child abuse.
Officers responded to an address on Uinta Drive in reference to a report of a scam. The reporting party said they received a phone call from a person identifying themselves as an employee of a power company. The caller demanded that the reporting party pay their power bill over the phone or their power would be shut off. The reporting party immediately recognized the call as a scam and ended the phone call. No loss was reported as a result of the incident.
Officers responded to an address on Mansface Street in reference to a report of a scam. The reporting party said they received a phone call from person identifying themselves as an employee with Publisher’s Clearinghouse. The employee told the reporting party they had won a substantial amount of money and needed to pay fees in order to collect their winnings. The employee requested that the fees be paid using a Greendot money card. The reporting party recognized this as a scam and no loss was reported.
Animal Control Officers responded to an address on Virginia Circle in reference to a report of cruelty to animals. Upon arrival, Animal Control Officers found the animal to be fine and left a notice at the door.
Officers took an information report by telephone.
Officers responded to an address on East Railroad Avenue in reference to a report of threats. Officers were able to contact the person initiating the threats and, at the request of the reporting party, that person was issued a trespass warning for the address.
Officers responded to the School District #2 Bus Barn in reference to a report of a vehicle passing a school bus. The reporting party said a vehicle passed the school bus while they were dropping off children.
Animal Control Officers responded to the Animal Shelter in reference to a report of a found cat.
Officers responded to an address on Mansface Street in reference to a welfare check.
Officers responded to FMC Park in reference to a traffic complaint.
Officers responded to FMC Park in reference to a report of a juvenile disturbance.
Officers responded to an address on South Carolina Drive in reference to a report of a disturbance.
Officers responded to the area of 1700 Wilson Street in reference to a traffic complaint.
Officers responded to an address on Logan Street in reference to a citizen assist.
Officers responded to an address on Uinta Drive in reference to a 911 call. The caller reported they were enabling the 911 feature on their cellular phone.
Officers took a report of a custody dispute on Logan Street.
Officers completed VIN Inspections at the Police Department and at addresses on West Railroad Avenue, East 4th South Street, Nebraska Street, and California Drive.
